FBI used Technology to Recognize Faces

Federal Bureau of InvestigationIn the search for fugitives, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) began using the technology to recognize faces of millions of motorists. Way by comparing the driver's license photo with photos of the fugitives. Projects in North Carolina have helped catch at least one suspect. This project may be expanded in other states. But some activists concerned about this method would violate the privacy of people who are not guilty.

Earlier this year, FBI agents track down murder suspect two people named Rodolfo Corrales who moved from California to North Carolina. The FBI took photos Corrales made in 1991 in California and compares with 30 million driver's license photos stored on the bureau of motor vehicles in Raleigh. A few moments later, found dozens of photographs license owners like Corrales. When analyzed finally found a man who calls himself the name of Jose Solis. A week later the FBI arrested Corrales in High Point where he changed its name to Solis. Corrales will stand trial in LA this month.
